The ATC website also says about 20% of SOBO hikers on average over the last 6 years have made it to Springer Mt. Since there are 4 of us, that would work out to about 80% of one of us completing the trail, right? I'm seeing Lizzy hopping to the finish line having lost a leg, the rest of us having been eaten by bears...
...I have faith in us. Weeeee caaaannnn dooooo iiitttt!

It's not really a "can" question. It's a "want to" question. You can walk it. Anyone can do the physical. The question in the end is if you'll want to finish. Most folks seem to get off because they run out of money. It's probably about $3 a mile to walk the AT. It's probably cheaper as a group. The north is much more expensive than the south (I'm told). Towns are where all your money gets spent.
You guys can certainly walk the trail. I'm 100% sure of that. The big question to answer for all of you before hand is if you'll want to. And a parallel question (which my sister might grumble at me for asking) is if each of you personally would finish walking it if the other 3 weren't there. They say "Why?" is the biggest question for AT hikers (and one of the least frequently asked). I had an OK answer for the "Why?" when I left... but obviously not enough of one to carry me the whole trail. :)
Happy trails!
